WINTER BALL
NANAIMO MINOR BASEBALL ASSOCIATION
9U & 11U WINTER BALL PROGRAM
FOCUS:
Winter Ball is for 9U players (b. 2014 & 2015) and 11U players (b. 2012 & 2013) looking to keep their skills sharp and improve their overall athleticism and baseball IQ during the off-season. Players will learn at their own pace with an emphasis on getting it right, not getting it right now.
COACHES:
VIU Head Coach Nick Salahub and his player/coaches will be working with the 9U and 11U groups. This program will incorporate the Basic Foundational Skills along with physical and mental training to include:
- Speed, Quickness & Agility
- Proper Throwing, Catching & Fielding
- Approach, Stance & Swing
- Live BP & Hitting Drills
You will be given Session Options within the Registration Form.

All sessions will be held at the NMBA Batting Cage located at 850 3rd St in Nanaimo.

13U WINTER BALL PROGRAM

13U Winter Ball is for all players born in 2010 or 2011 interested in continuing to develop their baseball skills and IQ through the winter season. At the completion of the winter ball program, we will hold tryouts for the 13U AAA Single Season team. Players intending to try out for the 13U AAA team are strongly encouraged to attend as many of the winter ball sessions as possible; however, players not interested in 13U AAA are equally encouraged to participate in winter ball!
We will incorporate mental and visual training along with physical training to include:
- Speed, Quickness & Agility
- Live Hitting
- Throwing fundamentals
- Defensive fundamentals
- Offensive fundamentals
- Player assessment & testing
- Complete evaluation

This year the 13U Winter Ball program will be developed and led by our 13U AAA Head Coach Brandon Dornan, with support from additional paid coaches, parent coaches, and/or VIU player-coaches.
DATES & TIMES
Mondays and Thursdays @ 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Starting: January 9, 2023 and ending: March 2, 2023
All sessions will be held at Arbutus Meadows indoor facility in Nanoose.
COST: $250.00
(note: a processing fee will be added when payment is made by credit card)

18U VI MARINERS WINTER BALL PROGRAM
18U VI Mariners Winter Ball program is for all players born in 2005, 2006, or 2007 interested in continuing to develop through the winter season. Players intending to try out for the 2023 VI Mariners 18U College Prep (CP) team should attend as tryouts will happen during winter ball. Note that if there is enough interest in 18U competitive baseball, there may also be an opportunity to form an 18U AAA team.
As with prior years, the VI Mariners program will be run by coaches Liam and Aidan Goodall. However, for 2023 the CP team will be registered with Duncan Junior Baseball Association, instead of NMBA. This will not change any aspect of play or eligibility for the team, but it does mean that NMBA is no longer involved in any aspect of the administration or operation of the team or program.
